C. F. Bach: Auferweckung des Lazarus, G. F. Händel: O Come, Let Us Sing Unto the Lord (HWV 253)

10 May, 2025 - 19:00 - 21:00

In May 2025, Martin Enger Holm appeared as the tenor soloist in a concert featuring two important works from the German Baroque tradition.

The programme paired Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s dramatic sacred cantata Die Auferweckung des Lazarus (“The Raising of Lazarus”) with George Frideric Handel’s celebratory anthem O Come, Let Us Sing Unto the Lord (HWV 253).

Martin performed together with the Fanny Hensel Konzertchor under the direction of Sigurd Hennemann, in the historic Minoritenkirche in Linz, Austria.

The concert explored two contrasting masterpieces of eighteenth-century sacred music—C. P. E. Bach’s expressive and emotionally charged interpretation of the biblical story of Lazarus alongside Handel’s radiant and festive choral writing.
