Martin Enger Holm as Stuart Ullmann in Paul Moravec’s The Shining – Regensburg
Stepping in at short notice for his colleague Carlos Moreno Pelizari, Martin joins the cast in the European premiere of the opera based on Stephen King’s celebrated novel.
Set in the isolated Overlook Hotel, The Shining follows the Torrance family as isolation, fear and supernatural forces gradually lead to a desperate struggle for survival. Praised for its compelling score and psychological intensity, the production has become one of the highlights of the theatre’s 2026 season.
Martin performs the role of Stuart Ullmann, the manager of the Overlook Hotel, appearing alongside an international cast at Staatstheater Regensburg. Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Paul Moravec with a libretto by Mark Campbell, The Shining has established itself as one of the most successful contemporary American operas and continues to gain international recognition.
The performance also marks Martin’s first appearance in this production after stepping in at very short notice, demonstrating both artistic versatility and professional readiness in a demanding contemporary opera.
