Martin Enger Holm makes his role debut as Stuart Ullmann in Paul Moravec’s acclaimed contemporary opera The Shining at Staatstheater Regensburg.
Called in at very short notice to replace colleague Carlos Moreno Pelizari, Martin now joins the cast of the European premiere after an intensive period of score study, rehearsals and preparation.
Based on Stephen King’s world-famous novel, The Shining tells the story of the Torrance family, whose stay at the isolated Overlook Hotel gradually descends into psychological horror and supernatural terror. Composer Paul Moravec and librettist Mark Campbell have transformed the bestselling novel into a powerful modern opera praised for its dramatic intensity and cinematic atmosphere.
The production is one of the major highlights of Staatstheater Regensburg’s 2026 season and has attracted considerable attention as the European premiere of Moravec’s opera.
